Partners
The Digital Equity Coalition is committed to bridging the digital divide and empowering communities across Santa Barbara County through collaborative efforts and shared resources.
Partnership Stories
ATT Project
Through its role as fiscal sponsor of the County’s $497k Digital Equity Access to Technology Grant, Santa Barbara Foundation partnered with five DEC partners—the American GI Forum, CommUnify, Community Partners in Caring, Family Service Agency, and the Independent Living Resource Center—to empower aging adults and adults with disabilities through digital inclusion. By training and equipping these organizations with the necessary tools and knowledge, the Foundation enabled them to effectively assist individuals in accessing the internet and utilizing digital devices.
City of Goleta Digital Equity Project
Supported by a grant from Central Coast Community Energy, the City of Goleta, in partnership with the Economic Development Collaborative, Broadband Consortium Pacific Coast, Women’s Economic Ventures, and American GI Forum, launched the City of Goleta Digital Equity Project to address the digital divide in the community. The collaborative partnership provided targeted digital literacy training, technical support, and computing devices to underserved populations and local small businesses.
Partners in Education and EDC Upskill
In a collaborative effort to bridge the digital divide, Partners in Education joined forces with the Economic Development Collaborative to offer free, six-week Computer Basics: New to Tech courses. Designed to equip adult learners with essential digital skills, these courses teach participants how to use a computer, navigate the internet for job opportunities, engage in video conferencing, and effectively utilize email. As an added incentive, graduates receive a complimentary Chromebook upon completion, further empowering them to succeed in today’s technology-centric world.
